PR Work for Georgia Southern’s GSA
As another assignment for my PR Writing course, Professor Nixon asked us to choose a non-profit organization (preferably a student org’ on campus) to work with to get a good bit of real life, hands-on experience by working with a real client. I chose the Gay-Straight Alliance because I am passionate about equality for all races, backgrounds, etc. especially the LGBTQ community. Also, I am familiar with the org’ since I was in it for a year or so at the beginning of my college career.
I feel that GSA will benefit from this because I can offer my skills, resources, and creativity as a PR student to assist them with any public relations needs the organization might have, even outside of PR Writing. The president Jeffrey Thorpe seems to be very excited. Today was my second GSA meeting. They meet in the Russell Union every Monday evening at 7:30pm. Tonight I was invited to join the exec’ board meetings as well. I can’t wait to get started!
